Migration Regulations 1994
CLASS OF PERSONS
(SUBPARAGRAPH 1223A(2)(a)(ix))
I, CHRIS EVANS, Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, acting under subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix) of Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’):
• REVOKE Instrument Number IMMI 08/058 signed on 28 July 2008 specifying classes of persons for the purposes of subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations; AND

2.      SPECIFY as a class of persons for the purposes of sub-subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, each person applying for a subclass of a visa specified in column 4 in the schedule holding the kind of passport specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this Instrument, subject to satisfying the conditions, if any, in column 3 for passports of that kind; AND
3.      SPECIFY as a class of persons for the purposes of subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, each person applying for a subclass 456 (Business (Short Stay)) visa who is a registered attendee of the ‘Global Health Challenges: Achieving the Millennium Development goals - UN NGO Conference 2010’.
For the purpose of this Instrument:
“Registered attendee” means any person entering Australia for the purpose of attending the United Nations Non-Governmental Organisations 2010 conference on Global Health Challenges: Achieving the Millennium Development goals, who has:
(a) registered their details with the ‘Global Health Challenges: Achieving the Millennium Development Goals - UN NGO Conference 2010’; and
(b) received the endorsement of the United Nations, or their representative, as a recognised Non Governmental Organisation delegate to attend the conference.
[NOTE: Sub-subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix) of the Regulations provides that an applicant who is in a class of persons specified in an instrument in writing will have a nil Visa Application Charge.]
“Global Health Challenges: Achieving the Millennium Development Goals - UN NGO Conference 2010”, means the conference organised by the United Nations Department of Public Information/Non-Governmental Organisation Conference to be held in Melbourne from 30 August to 1 September 2010.
This Instrument, IMMI 10/033 commences on the day after registration on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.
