3.17 Information about crew

               Members of crew
          (1) The master of a civilian vessel that enters Australia must, at any port of call in
              Australia, if so requested by an officer:
               (a) notify the officer of the number of members of the crew and give the
                   officer the following particulars in respect of each member of the crew:
                     (i) his or her full name;
                    (ii) his or her date of birth;
                   (iii) his or her citizenship;
                   (iv) the country of issue and number of his or her passport; and
               (b) if the vessel is a ship, produce to the officer the ship’s articles.
        (1A) If the officer requests the particulars be given in a particular way, the master
             must give the particulars in that way.

               Persons other than passengers and crew for discharge outside Australia
          (2) The master of a civilian vessel that is a ship must, at the first port of call in
              Australia of the ship, give an officer particulars of the name and citizenship of
              every person on board other than:
                (a) a passenger; or
               (b) a member of the crew whose name appears on the ship’s articles as a
                    member of the crew for discharge at a port outside Australia.
               Penalty: 10 penalty units.
          (3) If the officer requests the particulars be given in a particular way, the master
              must give the particulars in that way.
